Feathers are considered the most complex outer structures found in vertebrates, and are a significant example of a transcedental evolutionary creation. Author and Biologist Thor Hanson describes the ‘sweeping natural history of this common object with uncommon abilities to flutter, protect, adorn, attract, and insulate’.

Exploring this delightful and intriguing natural form, Harris disperses each into the air, allowing them to float towards and away from the viewer. Aiding in flight, thermal insulation, and waterproofing they have become an integral part of our understanding of evolution, engineering and archaeology and have played a key role in culture and fashion.

“Feathers” presents the the lightness of each feather dispersed into the air, in a celebration of their delicacy form and function. Each unique, and yet collectively considered one of the most powerful natural objects of all time.
